Presented well, your ideas entertain, enlighten, or make the sale; a poor presentation may actually alienate. Think how illegible text and distracting animation drive you away from many websites. You linger on ones that provide needed information in an inviting, attractive way.

Design should consider the audience and the medium. Some techniques used for good print communication fail miserably when applied to a Web page, but many work well in either medium. Even straightforward documents, like scientific research, use appropriate design elements to  convey a message more effectively to the reader.

Design for print

You can present a professional image to your clients by using a well-designed logo and an integrated design for all your printed material: business cards, invoices, and other stationery. 

Modern desktop publishing software and their built-in "wizards" make it easy to produce a newsletter or other print project, but it inevitably has a cookie-cutter look. For truly personalized design you're better off with a professional, but in any case you should understand some basic design principles for print. 

Website design, promotion, and maintenance

Packages and pricing

Many graphic designers offer set packages for various design projects. Unfortunately, one size does not fit all. We prefer a simpler approach to pricing: one fee for developing a site template and Home Page; all other design services for both print and the Web, including the construction of additional pages, are billed by the hour.
