National Geographic 3-D Solar System
Besides the regular features, National Geographic gives you a stunning view of our solar system, through which you can “fly,” zooming in and out to see various objects in our celestial neighborhood. It is well worth the time required to download the enabling software.

The University of Texas at Austin provides an enormous and expanding online map collection in a rather plain website, but the content makes repeat visits worthwhile.

Physiographic map of TexasUT-Austin Geology Library
The website of another constituent of one of the world’s largest libraries provides an online index and some examples of its vast holdings. Be sure to see the colorful maps of Texas geology and geography.

US Geological SurveyUS Geological Survey
Extensive site with many special features covering the earth sciences in the broadest sense. A good example of the depth of the information provided can be seen in This Dynamic Earth, an illustrated survey of the theory of plate tectonics. In other sites, the Paleomap Project contains a series of maps and animations showing the movement of continental plates in the past and future, and Regional paleogeographic Views of Earth History offers beautiful physical maps of regions and the entire globe, updated in light of recent discoveries and reconstructions.
